DRIFT The site
Privacy.
What we store when you use the site or link the Steam account you play on, and who to ask if you want it removed.
Who runs this
DRIFT runs the website at driftrust.com and the Rust server DRIFT EU | 2X Solo/Duo/Trio | Ocean PvP | Weekly at 157.85.87.201:28016. Questions about this notice go to the DRIFT Discord.
What this covers
This notice covers the website and the Steam link used to show your name, avatar, and Pearl balance. Play on the server also follows the server rules and the terms.
When you link Steam
Link Account is optional. You sign in on Steam, at steamcommunity.com. Steam confirms the login. We then store a record for that Steam account in Google Cloud Firestore, in the European database named driftrust:
- Your SteamID64.
- Your Steam display name.
- The address of your Steam avatar.
- That the account is linked, and the time it was linked.
- Your Pearl balance, and the time that balance was last reported, after you have been online on the server.
The game server keeps the Pearl balance you spend in game. While you are online and the account is linked, the server sends that balance to the site so the account page can show it. Game-server credentials stay on the game server. The website does not store them.
After you sign in, the site lets you read your own record. The browser cannot change it.
Sign-in on this device
After Steam confirms you, the site signs you in with Firebase Authentication. Your identity on the site is your SteamID64. The browser keeps that sign-in on this device until you choose Sign out. That storage is the sign-in session. It is not a tracking cookie.
This site does not use tracking cookies. A note at the bottom of the page can be dismissed. The browser then stores one local flag named drift-cookie, so the note stays closed. That flag is not sent to DRIFT.
Services the pages load
- Google Fonts, at fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, for Barlow Condensed and Inter. Google receives the connection from your browser, including your IP address.
- On the home page, animation scripts load from cdn.jsdelivr.net. jsDelivr receives that connection.
- Firebase, run by Google, hosts the sign-in and the European Firestore database named driftrust. The Steam link is checked by a Google Cloud function in europe-west1.
We do not sell personal data. We do not run ads. We do not use an analytics or advertising cookie.
Pearls
Linking the Steam account you play on qualifies you for a one-time 100 Pearl welcome reward when you are online on DRIFT. The reward is once per Steam account. Linking again, or on another computer, does not grant it again. The number on the site is the balance reported by the server. Type /pearls in game to see it, and /shop to spend it.
Playing on the server
Joining the Rust server uses your Steam account, the same way every Rust server does. Chat, bans, and in-game actions are handled on the game server at 157.85.87.201:28016. This website does not publish a player list.
How long we keep it
We keep the linked account record while the link is in place, so the site can show your name, avatar, and Pearl balance. Ask in the DRIFT Discord and we delete the site record for your Steam ID. Deleting the site record does not delete your Steam account. Say in the same message if you also want the Pearl balance on the game server cleared.
Your rights
We store the link because you asked us to connect the Steam account and show the balance. If the UK GDPR or the EU GDPR applies to you, you can ask for a copy of the site record, a correction, or deletion, and you can object to how we use it. Send that request in the DRIFT Discord. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live. In the United Kingdom that is the Information Commissioner's Office.
Age
You need your own Steam account to link and to play. We do not ask for your date of birth. If a parent or guardian wants a site record removed, ask in the DRIFT Discord.
Changes
